Rothenberg

Today was the very first day of our Europe trip!  After easily getting through the normally daunting security lines at ohare, the group got onto the plane with much excitement.  A good eight hours later and with minimal sleep on the plane, the group seemed to be mixing excitement with sleepiness, but luckily our first bus ride was 3 hours long and provided plenty of time to sleep.  We first stopped in he beautiful city of Rothenberg, which I can only describe as being taken back in time.  Whenever I pictured small German cities I always hoped that they would be lined with small pastry shops and cobblestone streets, and we all found this dream in Rothenberg.  The city not only played a crucial  role in the 30 Years War (something we all learned about in AP Euro), but it also had this really cool wall that completely surrounded the city.  After some free time, our group gathered and walked all the way around the city on top of the wall, which gave us really amazing scenery, and then we also got to see some cool dungeons!  Now that we have all settled into the hotel and had dinner, the exhaustion is starting to kick in and we all just want to sleep. But I know I am so excited to see the rest of Germany tomorrow and to make it to Munich, woohoo!
